Meet Hal and London...

This weekend I was blessed to marry this couple (at least for the religious part) - to be a part of this beginning in their lives.  May I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Hal and London Kern.

The Results of Obedience...

Why, when a church from the states came to theIDC and asked how they could help, did I refer them to Pastor Gabriel in Santa Maria de Jesus - a small community not far from Antigua?

Why, when a man who had been in our church for about 6 months had come to me and asked for prayer and strength to follow the vision God had given him many years ago to work with children and the people in indigenous communities, did I refer him to Pastor Gabriel as well?

The only explanation is that I knew it was the right thing to do.  This was an act of obedience on my part as God made it clear to me that my job was to connect these people.

I do know that the results of these steps in obedience have resulted in what is now a vibrant children's outreach ministry through the Pastor Gabriel's church.  The serious problem now is where to put them all.

This is real.  People are hungry - not only for food, but also the word of God.  The real question is what are we going to do with and about that?

Baby Dedication... again.

As a believer in Christ I love it when others get passionate for the things of God - I love it when I am witness to these things.  Being able to see how God can take a bad situation and make it good when individuals focus on Him - that is where it is at for me.

This week theIDC was blessed to see the next step in the restoration of a marriage.  The Robles came into the church the better part of two years ago and basically were getting ready to divorce.  The rollercoaster in their relationship has been extreme.  Since then, they have found reconciliation between themselves and God.  They have recommitted themselves in their vows and marriage before the congregation.  And continue this path in the dedication of their new daughter, Alejandra Maria.  Yea God!

Santa Rita Water Filters...

This week we - being Dave and Jason, friends of Dick Rutger,  Dick Rutger, Antonio, Giovanni, Steve, myself and local representatives - were following up for a water filtration project that was facilitated by 727Warehouse.  Working through a friend, Dick Rutger, he focuses on Wheel Chair Ministry and also Walter Filtration; we visited a community in the mountains west of Rabinal, Baja Verapaz.

It seemed high (high being 4,000 ft.) enough as we drove in and walked up the 1,000 feet to reach this remote community.

While the scenery was breath taking, and we got to eat raw sugar cane, and we gave away 25 more water filters, these were only the side benefits.

The opportunity to share God's love and the story of Jesus Christ trumps it all.

Yea God!

In "the IDC" Medical Clinic...

At the very last days of Nancy and I's trip to Florida, we saw the return of Sacred Heart University.  They have been a major player in the work of theIDC for the past year and a half.  While they successfully worked in Pastores and several home visits, they also helped us to establish our first clinic in Antigua.

As always, God used this team in conjunction with theIDC staff to show the love of God to more than over 150 people.

Yea God.

Zacapa Mission Team...

So this is a photo of a land mark team.  It represents something new for theIDC with 5 members of this team directly sent from the church.  We have been hosting teams from the United States for several years now.  Their focus has always been in various areas of benevolence in and around the greater Panchoy Valley, which is to say the immediate Antigua area.

However, this week theIDC partnered with a church from Texas to benefit community in Zacapa.

The mission focus included dental and ophthalmology, evangelical and children's ministry.  The children's work was theIDC's responsibility.  With over 500 children told about Jesus Christ.  Yea God.

Rambling for 3 weeks...

Nancy and I have been in the United States these past three weeks.  Not all for getaway purposes.  The Lord blessed us with opportunities to share what He has been doing here in theIDC and also connect with other ministries and spend some time with our family in Florida.  One of the funnier moments was the church marquee from Church of The Rock, Plant City, FL.

During these 21 days we were able to see...

- 18 churches - 5 ministry partners

- Drive over 2000 miles

- Nancy ran in the Gasparilla 15k, finishing top 50% of her age group and top 2,000
of the 15,000 running that day - Woof!

- I was able to enjoy a moto ride with my brother and one of his friends
(thank you Carl for the sweet Harley for the day)

- We found out our son Matt an his wife Ale are expecting their first child

It was a wonderful time to reconnect, recharge and step back to see what God is doing in our lives...
