Behold the Sawyer One Point Filter!!! Okay, that may be a little dramatic however... in any venture to serve the community there is always the challenge to know whether or not you are getting the job done. In one of our focus points we have been providing a personal water filter to individuals. While you could see a difference in the quality of the water before and after the filter, there was always a question of just what was happening with this little unit.
So, it struck me that we should do a test of little more than a sight comparison. So with the help of Elizabeth and Aaron, we collected water from a couple of locations in the community of Pastores. Site #1 is a storage tank fed by a well. Site #2 is an extremely polluted river that runs through the Panchoy Valley - affectionately called the river of life.
Elizabeth went tank diving...
Aaron made sure the river samples stayed seperate. The sample on the left is the filtered water from that on the right.
So this is what came of the test. The water, post filtering with this unit from Sawyer Products, is completely safe to drink. That will put a spin on the viability of the filter. Imagine the possibilities when people now have access to clean water from the worst of conditions.
